Narrative A Hunt continued…

After hearing her shrill scream I stop and ponder the ramifications of just leaving her there unattended in such a state, after all wasn’t part of the circumstances she was now in due to me? I turn and start back to where I had left her, as well as the drained scumbag. I hesitate a moment at the edge of the clearing, just out of human sight. I see that she has crawled a small distance from where she was assaulted, as well as away from his corpse, where it looks like she has collapsed again. Making up my mind I first tentatively reach out with my mind to make sure that she is unconscious. I make sure that she will not awaken easily.

I move like the wind and swiftly and as silent as death can be scoop up this young lady. I gently cradle her in my arms as I swiftly fly to my lair. I enter and lay her upon a comfortable couch in my front hall. I then make sure that the doors and windows are properly locked and sealed before returning to her, by way of the kitchen; where I grab a glass of water, a wet cloth, as well as a glass of blood wine. I make sure that the water is on the table beside the couch and gently start cleansing her face with the cloth while relaxing my hold upon her consciousness.

She slowly comes around blinking a few times in the subtle lighting. ‘Where am I?’ she asks. ‘Well milady you are in my home.’ I reply which causes her to focus her eyes upon my face. ‘You’re the one that killed the guy who attacked me; Aren’t you?’ she exclaims in a strengthening voice, as she suddenly tries to sit up. I then realize that she was not as out of it as I thought when I was playing with that scum. I am also rather relieved when she lies back as in relief saying ‘Thank you for doing that though you shouldn’t of. Now the police will be after you. Why didn’t you just subdue him instead of killing him?’

I ponder all this has I sit there on the edge of the couch. I take a drink of my blood wine then assist her with a drink of the water I had brought her. ‘You didn’t ask why I returned and took you away from the scene. After all if I had left you there in your condition they would have possibly thought you killed that scum.’ She thinks over that reply and states the obvious ‘Yeah they could have been that stupid. After all if I had that type of strength do you think he would have done to me what he did?’ as she start to well up with tears. ‘I mean I’m no vampire like you.’ She states out of the blue. I really take a moment to probe her thoughts then and realize that she has been watching me for a few years. She knows more about me then any other mortal and never told anyone about me. I also realize that this young lady is in love with me, and was in that park to find me. Now I know why I went back for her; I felt her call me with her heart.
