My ITT experience

During my two week class break from my last quarter I was contacted by my department head Mr. Saunders who informed me that I would be repeating two classes in my next quarter. While I take full responsibility for not producing the required home work necessary to pass the College mathematics class I was also told I would be repeating Composition 101. I was a little distraught by this as I knew I had earned at least a high "B" if not an "A" for that classes grade.
Earlier in that same quarter I had met with Dean Doyle Watson whom I had discussed my concern that with my new job as an electronics technician which required me to travel that I would have conflict with my courses. He assured me that ITT would work with me and my work schedule and that I would be able to make up for both the Composition class as well as the college mathematics should I have absences due to work.
It was explained to me that because I had "3 excused" absences( two of which were caused as I was at Mercy Hospital with my Wife Heather the second absence in which she gave birth to our beautiful Son Logan Wayne Siebert).
The Third absence occurred as I was assigned to a job site in Ada Oklahoma the Wednesday before my last Composition class by my employer. I was driven to the job site by my supervisor so i had no vehicle of my own to return to Oklahoma City to attend the last class.
Being cognitive of this fact I desperately attempted to contact both my instructor Michael Jennings as well as the Dean, Mr. Doyle Watson that I would be incapable of attending class and to learn if there was anything I could do. I received no calls from Dean Watson nor Mr. Jennings until late Thursday night well after the last class of composition 101 had let out. I spoke with Mr. Jennings as to my concern of my grade in his class at which time he assured me that as long as I submitted my final assignment as well as two other assignments that I would be fine.
Now in my fourth quarter of my first year I am being forced to repeat a composition course which I already passed with at least a high "B" if not an "A" for my overall grade with no better explanation than that ITT operates by some supposed law or rule that states no student is allowed to pass a class if they receive three or more absences in a row.
It seems absolutely ridiculous that any educational institution designed for continuing education for adults which  ITT Markets to would make it impossible for any persons to make up class time or perform some type of task that would allow them to pass a course if their grade was passing and their absences occurred through extraneous circumstances.
To date my experience here with ITT seriously fails as to my expectations. The staff and faculty expect adult students to put their "Institution" above all else in their students life's negating family, self, perhaps even religion (if a student is expected to miss church just to keep up with the ridiculous amount of "Independent Study" ITT requires).
If you are a working adult professional seeking to improve yourself through academic study to further yourself or provide a better life for you family, do your self a favor and look into local State accredited  community colleges or vocational programs as they are locally owned and operated and your tuition will be absorbed by the immediate community and not a faceless corporate entity.
ITT as a corporation as well as some of their Instructors should be ashamed by their lack of ethics both in the class room as well as their marketing tactics, lack of technology which they heavily advertise is current and state of the art which is in the majority obsolete, and an overall lack of intrest by the instructors in their students which provide their pay checks. Do yourself a favor and ignore ITT commercials. ITT is a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry for your experience. You sound very frustrated. Please feel free to voice your opinion. You seem to be well spoken, and it appears that you may have already attempted this, but I would feel remiss if I did not encourage you to bring this to the attention of the administration, so they may address your issues with ITT.

Some of the issues you raised in your blog soung disturbing and I will definintely be having a talk with the administration about them. However, now does not seem to be a great time for you to be taking a full class load. Just some food for thought.
