A Day (Story)

As I observe those around me going about their lives; I can’t help but ponder the differences between now and when I awoke. Today people are always on the go, never staying still, always late for something or another. People are living in a shell where no one notices anyone else, much less their surroundings. It’s gotten to where the only passing comments are: “Get out of my way!!”, “Watch where you’re going!!”, not to repeat any of the more profane comments made. Then there is the matter of the affluent being idolized for being affluent; it seems the more money one has now the more one is looked up to; even when that money was gotten illegally.

Compare that to when I awoke; it was a more peaceful time. It was a time where people lived their lives. It was when everyone, no matter how “busy” had time to spare. No one was in a big hurry; in fact if someone was late it didn’t matter; after all things did come up to cause a delay every now and then. It was a time when people had passing conversations, and not even business related ones. It was a time when people were recognized for their accomplishments, their helpfulness, and their honesty. It was enjoyable and prosperous.

To humans a day is a small segment of the time they spend on earth. Yet if you can compare a day from one era to another you can see the differences between them. You will see how with the progression of technology people have changed from a very companionable species to a very uncivilized, manners wise, species. I guess this is why after all these years it is much easier to find those upon whom I do not mind nourishing myself. After all it is very hard to slay someone that greets you properly; wouldn’t you say?
